Victorinox and Nespresso – two recycling pioneers team up
Sustainability is an important part of corporate culture at Victorinox as well as at Nespresso. Both firms have long committed themselves to acting responsibly and so it seemed a natural progression to team up to create a knife which turns recycled Nespresso capsules into a functional tool for your everyday adventures.
The first knife was created in 2016, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nespresso’s recycling program. Thanks to the success of this knife, we have continued the partnership in 2017, releasing the limited edition Pioneer Livanto knife. Although the scales have a new color, they still consist completely of recycled Nespresso capsules.
To make the Alox scales, used Nespresso capsules must be melted down and then cast. We wanted to be absolutely certain that the molten material could stand up to our stringent high quality standards, so we carried out numerous tests in our development laboratory, ensuring that the new material would be stable, durable and fitting all design requirements.
We are proud to say that all of our efforts were fruitful, with both partners delighted with the quality and success of the Pioneer Nespresso knife. We’re very happy to be writing a bit of Swiss recycling history, together with Nespresso.
Please note that this pocket knife is only available in selected Victorinox Online Shops and in selected Victorinox retail stores.
